A CMMC Level 2 Assessment is a Department of War authorized evaluation of an information system that determines whether an organization meets the requirements to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

Conducted by an authorized C3PAO, the assessment confirms that required security practices have been implemented and are working as intended. It is the formal step that validates your organization’s alignment with CMMC Level 2 requirements and establishes eligibility for contracts that require certification. Mock Assessment

A mock (non-certification) assessment mirrors the structure and expectations of a CMMC Level 2 certification assessment. It follows the same process but is conducted privately, without reporting results to the Department of War. A Mock helps organizations identify missing requirements prior to certification.

CMMC Level 2 Assessment

A certification assessment is the official evaluation required for CMMC Level 2 compliance. As an authorized C3PAO, Sera Brynn reviews your implemented practices of NIST 800-171 using a structured approach. Our focus is a clear, consistent process that validates what’s in place and keeps expectations straightforward.

POA&M Closeout

Organizations that receive Conditional Status have up to 180 days to address identified gaps. Sera Brynn offers focused closeout assessments that scale to the remaining items, helping organizations move to "Final" Certification status efficiently.

Phase 0: Planning & Framing

This phase focuses on alignment and preparation. We work with you to define scope, confirm key details, and establish a shared understanding of how the assessment will move forward. It’s where expectations are set, timelines are discussed, and the groundwork is laid for an organized and efficient engagement.

Phase 1: Pre-Assessment

The Pre-Assessment phase is designed to make sure everything is in place before formal assessment activities begin. During this stage, we review your materials, confirm evidence availability, and ensure the right people and systems are included. This step helps reduce last-minute issues and creates a smoother, more predictable assessment experience.

Phase 2: Assessment

This is where the evaluation itself takes place. Our assessors review your implemented practices and objectives using a consistent methodology. Throughout the process, we maintain open communication, provide regular updates, and make sure your team understands what is being reviewed and how conclusions are reached.

Phase 3: Report & QA

After assessment activities are complete, we compile our findings and prepare your official results. You receive a clear, documented summary of outcomes along with your formal CMMC status determination. Our team walks you through the results, so you have a full understanding of what they mean and what comes next.

Phase 4: Certification & Closeout

The final phase focuses on completing the process and issuing official certification. If closeout activities are required, we support them in a focused, efficient manner to avoid unnecessary delays. Once complete, certifications are formally approved and recorded through the appropriate channels.
